15 JUN 2020 - Reusable/Recyclable Shopping Bags are allowed only if patrons "package their own groceries". Cashiers and Baggers will not bag groceries in shopping bags you bring from home.  (You can purchase a new one in the store to take your groceries home)

Items on Sale

  • Register your Commissary Rewards Card to open the door to thousands of digital coupons redeemable at any commissary. Mobile applications for both Apple and Android platforms allow customers access to their account, review and select coupons and find store information such as hours of operation and phone numbers.
  • Find coupons and coupon links for hundreds of products.
  • Look at the biweekly featured items and sales flyer. Authorized shoppers can login to see the biweekly featured items and sales flyer with discounted products; every two weeks it reflects products as they go on sale.
  • Special order forms are available online to get case quantities of items carried by your local store or items that may only be found in larger stores.
  • More and more commissary store brands are hitting the shelves offering patrons much more value for their dollar. Currently over 400 products are on store shelves offering patrons the same quality for a lower cost.
  • Commissary gift cards are a great way to provide the gift of groceries to your military family and friends conveniently and quickly. Order them online in $25 and $50 denominations.  
  • Have the hours at the Commissary changed?

    Effective March 19, all commissaries will suspend early bird shopping to allow more time to clean and restock the store.

    Current Hours for Commissary:

  • Senior Shopping (65+) 9 a.m. - 10 a.m., Tuesday and Thursday
  • DOD ID Card Holders: 9 a.m. -  7:30 p.m., Monday/Saturday and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday

Are there plans to close the Commissary?

The commissary will remain open to support the Wright-Patterson military community. The resupply lines are severely stressed with deliveries arriving on a daily basis. However, with enhanced patron shopping the merchandise is purchased as soon as it comes available. Therefore, we placed limits on certain items in an attempt to support as many patrons as possible.

Is the Commissary limiting the purchase of high demand items?

Currently, paper products, such as paper towels and toilet paper, and all household cleaning supplies are limited to two items per purchase for each individual or Family. In addition to paper products, water and hand sanitizer are limited to two units per purchase and bags of rice are limited to one large bag per purchase. This list will be enhanced as the situation dictates.

How is the Commissary addressing replenishing stock?

The commissary management assures patrons shelves will continue to be stocked and product availability will be maintained and secured. Deliveries have been increased to the store to ensure product availability, particularly on items that are in high demand such as disinfectant wipes and toilet paper. From a product availability standpoint, the commissary is continually working with industry suppliers and installation senior leadership to support the needs of the Wright-Patterson community.

Is the Commissary limiting the number of people allowed in?

The current limit of commissary patrons allowed in the commissary is 20 customers every 10 minutes until reached full store capacity.

Can I bring my child with me to the Commissary?

To help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and to protect our shoppers from potential exposure, we ask when possible to limit shopping to one person per household. Effective immediately, a 100-percent ID card check at all commissaries, so that only authorized customers – this includes disabled veterans with VHIC cards – will be able to shop. While this policy is in effect, visitors will not be allowed to enter the commissary. This is designed help with social distancing and crowd control. Children under 10 with their parents don’t have to have an ID card.

How are we protecting Commissary employees?

The commissary agency is purchasing high-quality surgical-type masks and gloves through the commercial supply system that will be made available to employees. As supplies of masks and gloves make their way to commissaries, store employees are wearing their own masks or some form of material such as scarfs, bandanas, clean t-shirts or cloths to cover the nose and mouth.

Are face coverings required to be worn at the Commissary?

DeCA HQ and the Installation Commander have directed as to implement face coverings required for anyone that visits or work at the Commissary.

Will the Commissary be providing face coverings for customers?

Facemasks will not be distributed at the commissary. The CDC recommends that cloth face coverings should not be placed on children younger than 2 years of age and anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the cover without assistance. How are we protecting Commissary customers and employees?

In addition to requiring face coverings for employees and customers, commissaries have implemented the following operational policies to help make stores safer during this pandemic:

  • We installed clear, acrylic sneeze shields in all regular checkout lanes, SCO attendants stations and ID checking desk to add extra protection for customers and employees.
  • Commissary personnel are wiping down with sanitizing solution checkout stand areas, product display glass cases and handles and shopping carts.  Employees are practicing routine hand washing and other basic sanitation measures to reduce transmission risk.
  • Hand sanitizer is provided at each register and staff are encouraged to use it at the end of each patron transaction.
  • DeCA encourages its employees to closely monitor their health, and asks them to stay home if they, or someone in their household, are sick.
  • We have implemented, in unison with the installation, procedures regarding social distancing.
  • A “no visitors” policy was instituted to reduce the number of people in the stores.
  • Early bird hours were suspended to allow stores more time to clean and restock the store.
  • Patrons cannot bring reusable bags into the commissary to help reduce the risk of virus transmission.
  • Cashiers no longer handle patron ID cards. Instead, customers will be asked to scan their own ID or cashiers can use the handheld scanner if available to scan bar code on IDs.
  • We encourage the use of credit or debit transactions to limit the use of cash and coins.
  • We work closely with local the public health assets on the installation to monitor transmission risk related to staff and patrons.
  • Commissaries have temporarily suspended the requirement to sign credit card receipts to prevent multi patron handling of the credit card reader pen.

Special Information

Animals in the Commissary

Disabled patrons who rely on service animals trained to assist them will be permitted to bring their service animals into the commissary while shopping. Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person who is having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets.

Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), 28 C.F.R., Part 36, "Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Disability by Public Accommodations and in Commercial Facilities, (Reference (bb)).

Self-Service Bagging

A Self-Service Bagging Lane is now available at check stand # 14 for customers who prefer to bag their own groceries.

We offer cut flowers at great prices. Pick up flowers today for that special occasion or just to brighten your day or someone else's.

Organic Food Products

You can find organic products throughout the Wright-Patterson AFB Commissary. They are easily identified on store shelves by the small green signs displaying the organic seal of the United States Department of Agriculture. Find a wide variety of organic items ranging from organic milk, eggs, soups, yogurts, frozen veggies, cereals, frozen pizzas, enchiladas, shampoos, conditioners, and body lotions throughout the store.

The commissary now has a special needs Caroline's Cart available for use. We also have Universal baby car seat docking stations. These baskets are located in the entry vestibule for your convenience. Wright-Patterson commissary is offering a bagger less checkout lane, register # 14 available to the patrons who want to bag their groceries themselves.

For the Deli, call 937-257-2060 ext. 3334 to special order meat and sandwich trays for a party or gathering.

For the Bakery, call 937-2060 ext. 3334, to order a cake or dessert for special occasions.

For the Meat Department, use ext. 3364 and if you do not get an answer please call the main number and press 8, then 0 and ask to speak to someone in the meat department to place your order. There are no orders too small or too large. We will gladly assist you with all your requests.

For Produce, use ext. 3363 to order a fruit or veggie tray.
