EFFECTIVE AUGUST 2ND, 2021 - In accordance with updated guidance released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on “Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People,” issued on 27 JUL 21, DoD has rescinded the Deputy SECDEF Memo: Subject “Updated Mask Guidelines for Vaccinated Persons,” dtd 13 MAY 21, that no longer required vaccinated persons on DoD installations and Facilities to wear masks. Based on updated CDC guidance, in areas of substantial or high community transmission, DoD now requires all Service members, Federal employees, onsite contractor employees, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status.

JBLM is assessed to be a substantial transmission rate area at ~75 cases (SM and beneficiaries) per 100K over the last 7 days. The JBLM population is ~71% vaccinated, and our surrounding counties average ~46% vaccinated. Service members, Families, retirees, DA Employees and contractors who reside in or transit thru our surrounding counties and work on, or frequent JBLM should be advised that the Delta variant is more transmissible, and increases the risk to the unvaccinated population.

EFFECTIVE MARCH 3RD, 2021 - stores are authorized to allow the use of reusable bags.

EFFECTIVE JULY 9TH, 2020 - Commissaries worldwide selling reusable, disposable protective masks.

Hanes: 10-pack, reusable, adult size, 3-ply 100-percent cotton, washable up to 20 times

Midwesttrading: KN95 1-pack disposable mask and a 10-pack, 4-ply mask, fit adjustable, inner layer contains air filter

EFFECTIVE APRIL 10TH, 2020 - 'FACE COVERINGS' WILL BE REQUIRED in order to shop at the McChord Field Commissary:

ALL DeCA EMPLOYEES and ALL PATRONS MUST WEAR A 'FACE COVERING' when entering, working or shopping in any DeCA Commissaries or facilities; this applies to ALL STORES including the McChord Field Commissary.

If you are unable to purchase a manufactured 'face mask', the following is a link to the CDC website for instructions/recommendations on DIY cloth 'face coverings':

'PRICING PRACTICES' AT THE McCHORD COMMISSARY:

The Commissary is an Appropriated Funds facility; it is a not-for-profit entity unlike retailers outside the gate or even the BX.  Goods are procured and purchased by the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) with DOD Appropriated Funds for resale to patrons.

While our customers can be assured that they are provided with the best overall prices in their shopping trips to our commissaries, when it comes to individual items each retailer may have a different cost from their suppliers. If we find that our cost does not allow us to be priced as competitively as we should be, or provide the savings we are committed to provide, our category teams will work diligently with our suppliers to negotiate the best cost possible. This might include running great promotions with deeply discounted prices. However, from time to time we may need to be priced slightly higher than a commercial store. At DeCA we are committed to provide the best overall savings to our customers that we can!

Patrons purchase products at cost + surcharge. Price changes are processed twice a month, on the 1st and 16th of each month. Surcharge is applied to the total value of each commissary purchase because the Congress has mandated collection of surcharge (currently 5 percent) to pay for commissary construction, equipment and maintenance. All surcharge dollars collected are returned to commissary patrons in the form of continually improved commissary facilities. The amount of surcharge applied to a commissary sale transaction is shown as "SCG" on your sales receipt.

Guest Rules

The below policy changes are being implemented in order to prevent ‘exposure’ and ‘community spread’ of COVID-19. These 'best practices' will also aid in alleviating in-store congestion, promote 'social distancing' and help to protect our most ‘at risk’, 'COVID-19 Vulnerable' populations. Additionally, these changes will also allow commissary staff more space and time to re-stock shelves and maintain our facility.

We do apologize for any inconvenience and THANK YOU for your understanding!

-- Effective March 3, 2021, stores are authorized to allow the use of reusable bags; there are no bagging restrictions.

-- Effective August 9, 2020, effective immediately, DeCA will join MWR and the Exchanges in allowing guests/visitors in our stores; the McChord Commissary will no longer check ID's at the door.

Our face covering policy, however, is still effective. ALL DeCA employees and ALL patrons MUST wear a face covering over their nose/mouth at all times when entering, working or shopping in any DeCA Commissaries or facilities; this applies to ALL stores including the McChord Field Commissary.

McChord Commissary follows CDC Guidance on Face Shields:  Face shields may only be worn in addition to a face covering/mask. It is not known if face shields provide any benefit as source control to protect others from the spray of respiratory particles. CDC does not recommend use of face shields for normal everyday activities or as a substitute for face coverings/masks. Some people may choose to use a face shield when sustained close contact with other people is expected.

-- Effective June 15, 2020, all Commissaries will allow patrons the use of their reusable bags, but only if patrons “package their own groceries”. Cashiers/Baggers will not be authorized to bag for patrons who choose to use their own bags. Patrons may use their reusable bags at any self-checkout lane. And additionally, at the manned registers, only if they agree to bag their own groceries.

This policy will continue until further notice.

-- Effective March 23, 2020, 'Elderly & Disabled' hours of operation are now designated 'COVID-19 Vulnerable' hours. By request of JBLM Command, McChord will be open three days per week on Monday, Wednesday & Friday evenings from 1800 - 2000 to accommodate these 'high risk' patrons.
