Ingredients (Serves 1)

  • 1 tbsp. (0.5 oz.) spicy brown mustard
  • 2 slices whole grain or whole wheat bread
  • ¼ cup green leaf lettuce
  • 2 slices tomato
  • 1/8 lb. (2 oz.) sliced deli roast beef
  • 2 (2 oz.) slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/16 lb. (1 oz.) sliced deli ham
  • ¼ (2 oz.) cup red onion, shaved


  1. Spread the mustard on one slice of bread.
  2. Layer the remaining ingredients in the following order: Lettuce, tomato, roast beef, Swiss cheese, ham, and red onions.
  3. Crown with the second slice of bread and enjoy.


  • A 6-8 inch whole wheat or whole grain hoagie or wrap can be substituted for the bread slices. Any type of lettuce or mix of leafy greens can be used in the sandwiches to total the amount of leafy greens listed in the ingredients, however the nutritional analysis is based on the ingredients (type of leafy greens and amount) listed in the recipe.
  • Nutrition analysis is based on the use of whole wheat bread, low-sodium deli turkey.  Sodium level could be lowered by using low-sodium deli meats all together and low-sodium pickles, or replace the pickles with fresh cucumbers.
