JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. – Commissary CLICK2GO™, the Defense Commissary Agency’s new online ordering/curbside delivery service, officially arrived at the Langley Commissary during a June 7 ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Langley is the first commissary to get the curbside delivery service after DeCA announced June 1 it had added online payment and more product information to the program webpage. The agency also announced the service is being expanded to all stateside commissaries by the end of the year, and to overseas stores soon thereafter.
“One of the most important things I wanted to accomplish when I came onboard last year, was to establish a strong e-commerce presence, and one of those initiatives discussed was delivering an online ordering and payment curbside service across our 236 commissaries,” said Bill Moore, DeCA director and CEO. “Today, here at Langley Air Force Base, we are proud to introduce that new service to not only deliver convenience, but savings as well.”
Customers use a computer or mobile device to make their orders online where they select from commissary products based on the store’s stock assortment. After products are selected, the shopper selects a pickup time and pays for their order. At their appointed time, customers park in designated parking spaces where commissary workers bring their groceries.
Base leadership was excited for the arrival of the new service, along with the convenience it brings to commissary beneficiaries, according to Lt. Col. Jomia Blas, 633rd Force Support Squadron commander.
“It’s an incredible capability that will yield significant dividends for airmen and their families,” Blas said. “We talk a lot about the changes happening outside the gate, but to see this kind of relevant, innovative technology come to the base means our airmen and their families can conveniently buy the things they need, which will ensure a higher level of mission readiness.”
Some of the features of Commissary CLICK2GO are:
- Easy-to-use navigation and search functions to help customers plan healthy meals and take care of their family’s needs
- Enhanced product information
- Robust recipe features
- Featured sales and promotions
- Upgraded mobile-friendly experience
As part of an introductory offer, the service will be free during the first 30 days of operation. After that, a $4.95 service fee will be applied for each order as it is at other Commissary CLICK2GO locations.
