What is SAM?
TheSystem for Award Management (SAM) database is the primary Department of Defense (DoD) repository for contractor information required for the conduct of business with DoD. Contractors must update or renew their registration annually to maintain an active status. The web site for more information is www.sam.gov.
Do I have to be registered in CCR to get a government award?
In accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 4.112(a), "Prospective contractors shall be registered in the CCR database prior to award of a contract or agreement, except for- Purchases that use a Government wide commercial purchase card as both the purchasing and payment mechanism, as opposed to using the purchase card only as a payment method;"
Note: DeCA uses the Government wide Purchase Card (GPC) to obtain supplies and services (other than resale supplies and services) for which the total requirement is less than $2,500.00 (micro purchases). DeCA also uses the GPC as a method of ordering and payment from DeCA's corporate Web contracts, and for some selected contracted services.

Who do I call if I am having problems with my stocking, custodial, storage contract at the commissary?
You should first try resolving all problems at store level, openly communicating with the QAE and Store Director. If you are not successful in reaching an amicable resolution, you should contact the specific DeCA Region contracting personnel (contracting officer and/or contract administrator as specified in your contract).
